Our Puppy Adoption Process
1. Complete Our Puppy Application
The first step in adopting one of our puppies is to complete our Puppy Application. Before placing a deposit, we’re happy to answer any questions you may have by email or text message.
Our top priority is making sure every puppy is placed in a safe, loving, and permanent home where they will be treated as a cherished member of the family.
2. Reserve Your Puppy
Once your application has been reviewed and approved, a $400 refundable deposit is required to reserve your puppy until pickup. This deposit will be applied toward the total adoption fee.
Our adoption fee is $1000 for all puppies, regardless of gender or coat type (long-haired or smooth-haired).
We also maintain a waiting list for families who have placed a deposit. Families on the waiting list receive priority when puppies become available. Once a family chooses their puppy, it is officially reserved for them and marked as Sold on our website and social media pages.
From that moment, you’ll receive access to our Puppy Cam, allowing you to watch your puppy grow, play, and reach important milestones until it’s time to bring them home.
3. Bringing Your Puppy Home
Our puppies are ready to join their new families between 8 and 10 weeks of age.
The remaining balance of the adoption fee (after your deposit has been deducted) must be paid in cash at the time of pickup. We appreciate your understanding, as we are unable to make exceptions to this policy.
Attention Deposit Holders
Not only do we offer a lifetime of support, but all of our puppies go home with a bag of their food, toys, a blanket with mom and sibling’s scent as well as extra goodies. Every Lydia Miniature Dachshunds puppy is AKC registered (limited), has had first vaccinations and dewormings completed, has been examined by our trusted veterinarian and comes with detailed records and care guides.
About our mommas...
The gestational time for puppies is two months. Expectant mommas close to due dates sleep with us in our bed so that we can be alerted if they go into labor at night. Otherwise they are upstairs with us so that we can keep an eye on them. Once labor begins, I stay with them through the whole process helping them through labor. Once the puppies are born, they and their mommas are in our nursery kennels for 2 weeks. At 3 weeks they go into playpens in our nursery with Momma. At 5 weeks they get a Neopar Parvo shot (preventative I do extra) and are then moved into the living room to start socializing with a few of my adults. This also helps them get accustomed to a busy household. The puppies are either in playpens or on the floor in exercise pens. Their mommas can come and go as they please to nurse them or just to check on them. They get their first puppy shot at 7 weeks and go for a well puppy visit with my vet. The puppies are ready to go to new homes at 8 weeks.
